The Borough of St. Pancras comprised Camden Town, Chalk Farm, Kentish Town, and Somers Town. In 1965 it became part of the London Borough of Camden.

Goswell Road is a part of the Great North Road (A1). It runs from The Angel, Islington southwards through Finsbury and Clerkenwell to The Barbican in St. Luke's district. Here Old Street runs off at right angles to the east, through St. Luke's. No. 136 is in Old Street district of Holborn.

So Henry Stagg was either a monumental mason or a stone polisher.

This area was a notorious slum much frequented by criminals, and part of the locality was known as "Thieves' Kitchen", being a training ground for young criminals.

Note:- From 1862 Gray's Inn Lane became renamed as Gray's Inn Road.
Also from about this time, it appears that Goswell Street became renamed as Goswell Road, and existing houses were renumbered.
Holborn is the area to the north of The Strand in which are situated Lincoln's Inn and Gray's Inn. It was the smallest of the former Metropolitan boroughs, and now forms part of the London borough of Camden.
